Why Mokko?

Yuhoo~ blogging time! On the last post, I mentioned that I'll explain why do my nickname called - Mokko. Yea, at first a lot of people thought that I'm Japanese animate freak because "Mokko" sound like Japanese name. But I'm not animate freak! I only like to watch One Piece due to it's story line. (Okay, maybe One Piece will be my next post!)

My name is not Japanese, Korean, Malay, English or Mandarin but HOKKIEN! Cute right? A name from Hokkien. This name was given by my sister and there's a story behind the name. If you are Hokkien people, I bet you will get a BINGO for the answer.

Here is the story : When I was a kid, my mum cut my hair into a mushroom shape. It's cute for me, but during that time, my sisters laugh at me hairstyle. Of course, my mum treat me like her barbie doll too. During kindergarten time, I kept a long hair and it's ok for me because I'm obedient girl, didn't care much about my hairstyle. She likes to style my hair with braid and I look lovely with those hairstyle. (Hahaha! self proclaim) At that time, I thought my mushroom head will forever gone. But who knows when I enter primary school, which is a pure girl school with a rule that students can't keep a long hair. OS in my heart appear...WHY?? Girl should keep long hair mar! Short hair is for BOY! But with no choice, in order to enter the school, I have to follow the enquiry. Okay, thunder strike on my head and my hair turn into a mushroom head again!

6 YEARS! 6 YEARS I have been carrying my mushroom head all around. And that's why my sister named me Mokko which means mushroom in Hokkien. Due to the effect of social networking, the power of Facebook, my friends started to call me Mokko instead of my real name - Gay Peng. Well, Mokko sound better than Gay Peng and I like to be called as Mokko too.

Although sometimes Mokko will become Pokok, Mangkuk, Rokok or even Kokok but it's sound fun for me and my friends. Now I had used to name as Mokko and I tried to relate my name into my design. Here is one of the example for my menu design which I named the restaurant as Mokkolicious.

This name inspire me a lot. Because of this special name, people remember me easily and even create a mushroom group for me. Thanks for my sister who gave me this cute name. I feel so alive in this world. Haha! Again, I'm Mokko Tan! Nice to meet you.
